Reports To (Job Title): HSE Manager

Project Location: Muscat, Oman

Job Summary:

The Deputy HSE Manager is responsible for supporting the HSE Manager in managing the company’s health, safety, and environmental programs. The role involves assisting in the development and implementation of HSE policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with local regulatory requirements and company standards, and providing training to employees on HSE-related matters. The Deputy HSE Manager will work closely with the HSE Manager to monitor HSE performance, investigate incidents and accidents, and ensure that corrective and preventative measures are taken.

Duties & Responsibilities/Deliverables:

  • Assist the HSE Manager in developing and implementing HSE policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments and project teams to ensure that HSE considerations are incorporated into all project activities.
  • Conduct HSE audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and risks.
  • Conduct HSE training for employees, including new employee orientation, toolbox talks, and other HSE-related training.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents and ensure that corrective and preventative measures are taken.
  • Monitor HSE performance and provide regular reports to the HSE Manager.
  • Participate in emergency response planning and drills.
  • Participate in HSE meetings and committees.
  • Stay up to date with relevant HSE regulations and best practices.

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or related field. Relevant HSE certification (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HSE management.

Skills & Person Specification:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Certification in HSE management is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge of local regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
