Job Title: Civil Works Chief

Reports To (Job Title): Construction Manager

Project Location: Muscat, Oman

Job Summary:

The Civil Works Chief reports to the Construction manager. This role is a senior-level position responsible for overseeing and managing civil engineering aspects of the project.

Duties & Responsibilities/Deliverables:

  • Project Management: Lead and manage civil engineering aspects of the project from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with specifications and regulations.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership and direction to a team of engineers, technicians, and construction professionals, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of the organization’s long-term technical goals and formulate strategies to achieve them.
  • Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Oversee budgetary aspects of the project, allocate resources effectively, and ensure that financial targets are met.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure that construction work meets industry standards and complies with specifications.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with civil engineering projects, making informed decisions to ensure project success.
  • Client Interaction: Engage with client to understand needs, provide updates on project progress, and address any concerns or modifications.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all civil engineering activities comply with relevant local, state, and federal regulations and codes.
  • Innovation and Technology Integration: Stay abreast of new technologies and industry trends, integrating innovative solutions into projects when appropriate.
  • Problem Solving: Address complex technical challenges that may arise during the course of the project, finding practical and efficient solutions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in construction projects preferably in related field.

Skills & Person Specification:

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • English proficiency; Arabic and Turkish knowledge considered advantageous.
  • Project Management Certifications (PMP) · Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Safety Awareness.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
